We have always used Na.Citrate blue top tubes to collect blood via vacutainer from patients for hemotherapy. As of recent the 4.5mL BTT we have always used have been discontinued. What other anticoagulant tubes do you use? Have you ever used PTT or does every one just used syringes with heparin? Thank you for any advice!!

That should have read:We add 0.04 mL of heparin to 2 mL of blood per 10# animal.

Thank you for your response. & what formula do you guys use for small animals and heparin dose? For many of our small patients the amount is so small (i.e. a needle hub)I just want to be sure we are being accurate.
